In a recent announcement, Mahindra and Mahindra has declared an increase in price by 1 per cent of all its passenger and commercial vehicles. This hike reflects a Rs 2,300 to Rs 11,500 increase in price for the customer depending on the model. The new prices will be effective this month. Mahindra claims that they had to increase the price of its products to make up for the rise in input costs.
Commenting on the price hike Pravin Shah, Chief Executive, Automotive Division & International Operations (AFS), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said, “We have been holding back on price hikes for a while but now it has been necessitated to partly offset the impact of rising input costs.”
Earlier this year, Audi, Mercedes-Benz and Renault too had hiked the prices of their cars. In fact, last year too Mahindra had announced a rise in price of their cars for similar reasons. (Also Read: Mahindra announces price hike of up to 2 percent across product range)
