KTM could be on its way to laying the Husaberg brand to rest following its acquisition of Husqvarna from BMW. The two brands will be united as the firm ‘enters a positive new era by combining its rich heritage with Husaberg’s state-of-the-art technology’. Incidentally, Husaberg was first formed by engineers from Husqvarna who stayed back in Sweden when the latter was bought by Cagiva in 1987.
With the unification of the two brands under the Husqvarna name there will now be a completely new range of off-road bikes which will use Husaberg’s technology and resources. The move could even spell the end of Husqvarna’s road bike range while the brand starts to concentrate exclusively on off-road machines.
