Edelweiss Alpine bike tours on Zero motorcycles

Imagine riding the high Himalayan passes on electric motorcycles? Not convinced? Maybe not the Himalayas, but if you’re looking for a similar ‘noiseless’ two wheeled adventure in the Alps, then it’s quite possible now.

Well-known global motorcycle travel company Edelweiss Bike Travel is working with Zero Motorcycles to offer Alpine tours on Zero’s high-performance electric motorcycles.

According to reports, the motorcycle tour company has purchased six Zero motorcycles – four Zero S ZF11.4 and two Zero DS ZF11.4 models.  The ZF11.4 electric motorcycle engines make about 54.7PS of peak power at 4300rpm and 92Nm maximum torque. These bikes are capable of hitting speeds of up to 158 kmph. All motorcycles will be equipped with an additional 2.8 kilowatt-hour power tank for maximum range. Each bike will have a total battery capacity of 14.2 kWh per bike, increasing range of the motorcycles to about 200km.

Edelweiss is offering week-long tours from their base Mieming, Austria, covering over 1,000 kilometres over many well-known Alpine destinations. The tour covers the Silvretta High Alpine road, the Stelvio, the Gavia pass, the Mendel pass, the passes of the Sella Ronda and the Timmelsjoch.

The tour includes motorcycle rental, overnight stay and all meals for participants. A tour guide on motorcycle and a back-up van for luggage transportation are also included as services in the tour package.
