Packed with interesting new updates, the bikes have been priced starting Rs 1.4 lakh (ex-showroom Navi Mumbai)

KTM launches new range of bikes for 2016

Just like its manufacturing partner in India Bajaj Auto, KTM has quietly joined the party far away from razzmatazz of the ongoing 2016 Auto Expo. It has launched the 2016 versions of the RC 200, 200 Duke, RC 390 and 390 Duke.

While the updated 200 Duke has been priced at Rs 1.4 lakh, the RC200 will set you back by Rs 1.65 lakh. Similarly, the 2016 versions of the 390 Duke and RC 390 have been valued at Rs 1.91 lakh and Rs 2.09 lakh (all prices ex-showroom Navi Mumbai) respectively.

The bikes retain the old exhaust

Fresh information on the KTM India website gives an insight into the world of these new bikes. The addition of the slipper clutch to the entire KTM range has been the biggest update. However the disappointing news is that the Austrian manufacturer has chosen to restrict the aluminium exhaust and the ride-by-wire technology-equipped model that was revealed at the EICMA 2015 to just European markets. The new exhaust was developed to meet the Euro 4 emission norms while the current underbelly one is in compliance with the norms in India.

Apart from this, the new RC models will come with new rear view mirrors and adjustable handlebar levers. As we had reported earlier, all the KTMs will also come with the automatic headlamp which sees the ouster of the on-off switch on the handlebar. The Duke 200 and RC 200 receive new MRF tyres along with larger 300 mm front disc.

Fresh sets of MRF tyres

As for the powertrain, the engines and gearboxes have been retained without many changes. The 2016 RC 390 and 390 Duke are powered by the same 373.2cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that generates 44PS and 35Nm torque.

On the other hand, the 200 twins are powered by a 199.5cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that develops 25PS in the 200 Duke and 25.7PS in the RC 200.
