Mother-daughter escape unhurt while travelling in a Mercedes-Benz S550 luxury sedan

As if Katie Holmes wasn’t already dealing with a whole load of rubbish in her personal life, here’s more. The actress and now soon to be ex-wife of Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise and her 6-year-old daughter Suri had a close brush with danger on Monday when a garbage truck brushed against the chauffer-driven Mercedes-Benz S550 sedan they were reportedly travelling in.

The fender-bender occurred while Katie and Suri were on their way back from the little girl’s gymnastics classes in Manhattan in New York City. Fortunately, nobody was injured. There are, however, unconfirmed reports that the mother-daughter duo were not in the car when the sideswipe occurred.

As for the car, it survived with some minor dents and scratches on the rear left-hand side. Even otherwise Katie needn’t have worried – her Mercedes S550 is reported to be a highly safe car and comes loaded with features such as front, side and rear airbags, ABS and stability control. It also comes with ingenuous optional sensors that detect obstacles beyond the headlight’s reach. What it probably needs are sensors at the rear as well that warn occupants of speeding dump trucks that are about to hit them!

Among other things that Katie would be fighting custody for as part of the divorce settlement will be cars from Tom’s insane collection which includes the Bugatti Veyron (worth Rs 16 crore in India) and a bullet-proof Porsche 911.
