Jaguar’s sport saloon XE to receive new infotainment system and AWD

Jaguar’s smallest cat XE has been the latest addition to the range of models offered by the Indian owned British manufacturer. Jaguar have announced that under the skin they will soon have the XE available with an all-wheel drive (AWD) option. The AWD will be available on the 180PS 2.0-litre diesel and the 340PS 3.0-litre supercharged V6 petrol engines along with a new eight-speed automatic transmissions. AWD enhances vehicle dynamics and provides greater traction. Jaguar has designed the AWD to transfer the torque to the front wheels when needed. In normal driving, all of the engine's torque is sent to the rear axle, preserving the XE's rear-wheel drive dynamics, and ensuring that steering feel remains isolated, which would not be possible with permanent all-wheel drive. The AWD setup was first introduced in the F-TYPE R which is currently available in India.

With the addition of new drivetrain option, the Jaguar XE has also been updated with new electronics. InControl Touch Pro is designed with keeping a tablet-style setup for the infotainment system. The infotainment system gets a generous 10.2-inch display which provides all the necessary information in a very user friendly arrangement. The touchscreen will feature a highly responsive and quality graphics display. The unit will have 60GB of storage, WiFi hotspot connectivity for up to eight devices and with an intelligent navigation system which works even when GPS signal is lost.

Apple watches can now be synced with the InControl Infotainment system via an app making it simpler and more convenient than ever to interact with the XE. Owners of the XE can make use of this app to remotely lock and unlock the car. They can also keep a tab on the amount of fuel left in the tank and also seeing the vehicle’s location on the map. With the app car owners can also start the engine remotely to get the cabin to the ideal temperature before leaving for the journey.
