As part of its promotional campaign, Jaguar has released an official image of its production-spec XE sedan. This is the first official photograph of the XE sedan as opposed to the rendering released by the company earlier. It can be said that the production version looks very close to first rendering of the car that was shown at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
This particular image is of the XE S variant, which is one of the three models that will be made available after the launch. The other two will follow the Jaguar naming nomenclature with the base XE variant and the performance oriented XER-S as the top-of-the-line version.
The XE will be powered by Jaguar Land Rover’s new Ingenium 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine that has been crafted to return great efficiency. Jaguar claims that the XE sedan will return an unbelievable 31.8 kmpl (75mpg). The XE is also likely to go on sale with the 3.0-litre supercharged V6 that Jaguar has already plonked in the F-Type. In this form the, Jaguar XE will pump power of 375 horses and 461Nm of torque. But the highlight for the XE will be the fact that 75 per cent of its body will be made out of aluminium which will make it considerably lighter than its rivals.
Set to take on the likes of the BMW 3 Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and the Audi A4, the XE sedan is scheduled to make its debut at the Paris Motor Show and will go on sale soon after. One thing’s for sure, if it does live up to the claimed efficiency it will surely give the competition a run for their money, at least in India.
