The Mercedes-Benz E-Class has always been the German luxury car manufacturer’s largest selling model and the new 2015 version has been spied undergoing performance testing in Europe. As compared to some of the earlier instances where the E-Class platform has been spied testing with a C-Class shell, this is the first time the new car has been spotted testing with what is possibly its own body structure.
The new E-Class, codenamed the W213, will feature sportier styling similar to the S-Class and the C-Class and will be available in five different body styles globally. The body styles will include a standard sedan, an extended wheelbase sedan, a station wagon, a coupe and a convertible version. Reports also suggest that the new E-Class will be larger than the current version and more luxurious too. The E-Class will also most possibly feature full LED technology like the S-Class and a similar design for its interiors.
The new E-Class will be based on the MRA platform that also underpins the C-Class but will be offered by a new generation of 6-cylinder engines. The E63 AMG will also be available powered mostly by the newly developed V8 4.0-liter twin-turbo sourced from the AMG GT and the upcoming C63 AMG. The new E-Class will also get the 9G-Tronic nine-speed dual clutch gearbox as standard. The new Mercedes-Benz E-Class will go on sale in Germany in early 2016 which indicates a late 2015 reveal.
