As expected, Jaguar took the wraps off their new F-Type sports car for the public in Paris, precisely at the Musée Rodin Museumin. The all-aluminium two-seater passion mobile will be available in three models, namely the F-Type, F-Type S and F-Type V8 S.
With the F-Type, Jaguar aims to take another path to its core values by focusing on high performance driver’s cars. Available with a choice of V6 and V8 supercharged petrol engines Jaguar says that the F-Type is designed to feel alive due to its precise, powerful and sensual nature. The engines are mated to a close ratio eight-speed automatic gearbox for optimum acceleration. The V6 powered F-Type S also gets launch control for minimum wheel slippage during adrenaline pumping standstill starts.
The entry level F-Type with Jaguar’s 3.0-litre supercharged V6 develops 340PS of power giving it a 0-100km/h time of 5.3 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 260km/h.
The 3.0-litre V6 in the F-Type S develops 380PS of power, enough to take the car from 0-100km/h in 4.9 seconds and onwards to a limited top speed of 275km/h.
The top-of-the line F-Type V8 S packs in Jag’s 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine which churns out 495PS of power and 375Nm of torque giving the vehicle a 0-100km/h time of 4.3 seconds and a limited top speed of 300km/h.
Jaguar has fitted active exhaust systems to the S and V8 S models that open valves above 3000rpm to produce an exhilarating sinuous note in old school open top sports car manner.

The underpinnings of the car constitute Jaguar’s lightweight aluminium architecture at its stiffest featuring double wishbone front and rear suspension making it 30 per cent more rigid in key areas compared to other Jaguars. And to exploit all the rigidity the F-Type has been given a quick-ratio steering rack for ultimate responsiveness.
Inside the two-seater cabin the F-Type gets Jag’s gets a SportShift selector mounted on the centre console to focus on driver involvement which is furthered by the use of different trim materials on the passenger side and more technical materials on the driver’s side.
The F-Type’s design language takes inspiration from the C-X16 concept to give the sports car that muscular yet elegant Jaguar look. Bi-xenon headlamps, LED daytime running lights at the front and LED tail lights that seek to create a new and retro sports car signature for sporty Jags to come complete the car’s unique appeal. And the active rear spoiler that deploys at speed to create an additional 120kg of downforce furthers that appeal.
Ian Hoban, Vehicle Line Director, Jaguar said: “With the F-Type, the Jaguar engineering team focused on delivering greater dynamic driving reward than ever before. To make that a reality, every engineer has had very tough targets to hit: every one of those targets has been met and, in many cases, exceeded, making the F-Type a car that delivers precisely the key sporting attributes that we intended.”
The order books are now open for the new Jaguar F-Type sports car with prices starting at £ 58,500 (Rs 50,51,013) in the UK for the V6 F-Type. The V6 F-Type S has been priced at £ 67,500 (Rs 58,28,092), while the F-Type V8 has been pegged at £ 79,950 (Rs 69,03,158).
Judging by the number of variants of the F-Type it is possible to say that Jaguar may launch a tweaked version of the V8 F-Type with an ‘F-Type R-S’ moniker as it is possible to squeeze out more power from that 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine.
