It's raining deals and discounts on new cars

Car buyers are being showered with heavy discounts and freebies to beat the slowdown in sales
Things have never looked as gloomy for the Indian car industry as they do now. Rising interest rates, hike in excise duty on cars in the Union Budget 2012-13 and then the Rs. 7.5 petrol price hike have depressed demand for new cars, especially petrol-powered vehicles.
On the brighter side, the reduced demand has meant that manufacturers are desperately trying to get rid of inventory by doling out lip-smacking deals and discounts on their petrol models. The country’s largest passenger car makers, namely Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai are even offering schemes to cover fuel expenses on petrol cars for as long as a year, with terms and conditions of course. Nissan, too, has a cash back benefit scheme on its petrol Micra that will cover fuel expenses for a year.
‘Free’ petrol aside, you can snag numerous discounts on petrol cars. Maruti, for instance, is offering discounts on most of its small cars and the SX4 mid-size saloon. Take a look at the list of discounts and freebies available on Maruti Suzuki cars in the table below.
