Isuzu Motor India Pvt Ltd. is all set to introduce its lifestyle SUV, the D-MAX V-Cross soon in India. The SUV is being built at the recently launched manufacturing plant in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh. With around 70 per cent localisation of parts, the SUV has been launched with an introductory price of Rs 12.49 lakhs (ex-showroom, Chennai). Authorised dealerships have already started accepting bookings with a minimum amount of Rs 50,000.
The Isuzu D-Max V-Cross has been built on the company’s all-new Gravity Response Intelligent Platform (GRIP) for better road handling characteristics. The SUV has a fresh exterior body with an aerodynamic shape, designed by Isuzu in Japan. The front features a wide chrome grille flanked by twin-barrel headlight units. The bumper has a rugged design with fog lamps located on the sides. Moving to the sides of the SUV, the D-MAX V-Cross has flared wheel arches giving it a muscular and aggressive look. The lifestyle SUV has a seating capacity for five occupants and a spacious deck at the rear.
Moving to the insides, the SUV will be loaded with numerous features like 6-way adjustable driver seat, tilt-adjustable steering wheel, power windows, central locking, and 60:40 folding rear seat. The lifestyle SUV will also be equipped with touchscreen infotainment system, audio controls on steering wheel, climate control, electrically folding and adjustable OVRMs, and most importantly a shift-on-fly 4WD knob. It will also be equipped with various safety features like ABS, EBD with brake assist, dual front airbags, pedestrian friendly front-end and an impact absorbing bonnet design.
The Isuzu D-MAX V-Cross will be powered by a 2.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine that produces 138PS of power at 3600 rpm and 320Nm of peak torque from 1800-2800rpm. The engine will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. As mentioned above, the SUV will have a 4WD knob to select between 2WD, 4WD and 4WD lock configurations depending on the terrain.
When launched, the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross will be seen competing against the likes of the Tata Xenon and the Mahindra Scorpio Getaway in the lifestyle SUV segment.
