It seems that the woes for Triumph Motorcycles refuse to cease as it has now issued a recall for a number of its motorcycles owing to a fault in the engine control unit (ECU). Because of the defect, the ECU may improperly activate the fuel injectors. According to the British bikemaker, the affected ECU’s incorrectly signal the activation of the motorcycle’s fuel injectors. This can cause a loss of power on affected machines, which could induce a crash.
The recall affects the 2014 and 2015 model year Triumph Thunderbird, Thunderbird ABS, Tiger 800, Tiger 800 ABS, Thruxton, and Bonneville motorcycles manufactured between February 6, 2014 and August 7, 2014. Triumph is replacing the faulty ECU with a new one free of cost. Triumph has faced similar issues with its motorcycles in the UK, Australian and Canadian market. Gladly for Triumph India owners, who have been up in arms against the manufacturer after they discovered that the Triumph motorcycles sold in the Indian market are the underpowered Brazil-spec ones, none of the bikes sold in India fall under specific VINs which are being recalled.
