Hyundai ix25 gets five star ratings in C-NCAP

India-bound Hyundai ix25 SUV recently underwent China New Car Assessment Program (C-NCAP) crash test in China and passed the same with flying colours. The forthcoming compact SUV scored a good five-star rating in the crash test. Launched in China in December 2014, the  ix25 went through four tests under the assessment namely: the 100 per cent overlap crash, side impact, 40 per cent overlap front and whiplash.

The 100 per cent overlap frontal crash test was conducted at a speed of 50kmph where the ix25 scored 15.89 points out of a maximum score of 18. The side impact test was conducted with a moving deformable barrier moving at a speed of 50-51kmph. The SUV scored 18 out of 18 points.

In the 40 per cent overlap frontal impact test that was carried out a speed of 64 kmph, the Hyundai ix25 scored 14.11 out of 18 points. Lastly, the ix25 went through the whiplash test where the driver’s seat and restraint system performed at a speed of 15.65kmph and this car scored a 100 per cent score.

The new Hyundai ix25 is based on the carmaker’s fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design philosophy. It sports a muscular appearance and gets a prominent grille, LED day-time-running lights, projector headlamps and LED tail lamps.

Reports suggest that the company is targeting 90 per cent localisation to price it at par with the competition.
