Jeep’s underdevelopment crossover, currently referred as the C-SUV, has been spied testing yet again. The snapped car appears to be the Trailhawk variant; the term that is used to refer to the Jeep vehicles with enhanced off-road capabilities and sportier exteriors.

The C-SUV (Codenamed 551) will sit above the Renegade, which is expected to debut this year in India. It is also expected to replace the Patriot and the Compass that are available in global markets. There no certainty regarding the name of the vehicle, but it could retain the "Compass" moniker from the outgoing car.

Speaking of the spy shots, the heavily camouflaged car reveal some of its design characteristics like a rising shoulder line, squared-off wheel arches, hints of plastic cladding at the bottom. A lot of these cues indicate towards the C-SUV’s resemblance to its elder sibling, the Grand Cherokee, which was showcased at the 2016 Indian Auto Expo. The overall boxy setup, the lines bulging over the bonnet, the raked front, and rear windscreen are reminiscenct of the Grand Cherokee.

This all new Jeep (the 551) is expected to make its way to India in the second half of 2017 and will be produced locally at the manufacturer’s Ranjangaon facility, Maharashtra. The manufacturer, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, has planned an investment of close to $280 million in the country in the coming years.
