The Hyundai Tucson has been spied yet again in India and the car will be filling the gap between the Creta and the Santa Fe

The Hyundai Tucson has been spied testing on Indian roads once again. The test mule was wearing heavy camouflage, thus hiding its design highlights; however, we know how the car would look like as it was displayed at this year’s Auto Expo in concept form. The production version will largely be the same, except for a few aspects that are discussed here further down. The Tucson will be filling in the gap between the Creta compact SUV and Hyundai's flagship SUV, the Santa Fe.

Speaking of the spied vehicle, there are a few elements peeping out of the disguised skin, such as the headlamps, tail lamps, and, of course, the alloy wheels. It is from these few elements that we can discern how different the Indian version would be.

Observing the images of the tail lamp, one can clearly see that this light is not the LED one, but a simple halogen unit. How? If it had been LED then the illumination produced would have been seamless and a very clear bright red. But in this tail lamp unit, the beam is segmented. However, the headlamps in the spied version are the same dual projector lamps unit from the car showcased at the Auto Expo. Then there are the diamond cut alloy wheels which stand out and Hyundai might offer them in 17 or 18-inch sizes.

Apart from these, the Tucson will get enough bells and whistles on the inside to keep you busy. Some of its features will include dual zone climate control and ventilated front seats, along with electrically adjustable driver seat. It will also feature an 8-inch infotainment system along with navigation and probably Apple CarPlay. The Tucson will be a 5-seater, just like the Creta, and will get a boot space of around 513 litres.

Power is expected to be delivered by a 2.0-litre CRDi diesel motor mated to either a 6-speed manual or an optional automatic. Price? We expect it to start somewhere around 16 lakh, while the top-end variant could easily go above 20 lakh.

The Hyundai Tucson could be launched by the festive season, along with the next-gen Elantra.
