In a recent announcement, Hyundai Motor India Limited declared a price hike ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 25,000 across its range of products starting January 2015. This hike in price has been levied to offset increase in input costs and the high rupee depreciation.
Rakesh Srivastava, Sr. Vice President, Sales and Marketing said, “In these adverse market conditions, the price increase is necessitated. We have been absorbing most of the costs but are now constrained to consider price increase across all models.”
Hyundai is not one of the first manufacturers to its hike prices across its model range. Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Renault and Mahindra too had hiked the prices of their cars. In fact, more recently BMW has also announced a price hike of all its cars. So for all those looking to buy a car, December might just be the perfect month to go ahead and make that purchase especially considering that most manufacturers will offer discounts to clear their 2014 stock.
