Hyundai Motor India Ltd. has announced further expansion of its Skill Development Programme with 25 more ITIs in India. It is Hyundai's initiative to contribute towards the Govt. of India's Skill India Programme. Hyundai had launched the program in 2015 across five locations and that have delivered good results. Close to 95 per cent of the trained graduates from (2012-2015) have been recruited by Hyundai dealerships itself.

Speaking on the initiative, Rakesh Srivastava, Sr. VP - Sales and Marketing, Hyundai Motor India Ltd., said: “Hyundai is a stakeholder in India’s progress and a responsible corporate citizen. Our alliance with ITI and vocational institutes is aimed at reducing the skill deficit in the Indian automobile industry’s shop floors. With this partnership, we are confident that Hyundai will be able to bridge the gap of skilled manpower availability and help Auto Industry to achieve global competitiveness.”

The Hyundai’s Skill Development Programme consists of structured 96 hour content of 27 chapters and workshop practicals. Also, the students get an exclusive On-Job-Training (OJT) of four days at the Hyundai dealerships to get actual experience and become H-STEP 1 Certified Technician. Such platforms will help to solve the scarcity of skilled manpower in the industry. The two-year curriculum has been split with the first year students studying the ITI syllabus followed by the Hyundai syllabus in the second year.

Over 1000 students from the 25 ITIs in the country have benefited by the Hyundai’s Skill Development Programme. Institutional centres are located in Hyderabad, Lucknow, Ranchi, Bhubaneswar, Sangli, Dehradun, Ludhiana, Vizag, Cochin and Sonepat to name a few.
