Hyundai Motor Brazil (HMB), a fully owned subsidiary of Hyundai Motor Company has unveiled its latest Brazil exclusive model, the HB20X crossover at the Sao Paulo International Motor Show.

The HB20X is part of the Hyundai Brazil (HB) family of cars that have been designed and engineered emerging markets. The first member of the HB family, the HB20 hatchback was launched in September 2012.

The HBX20 crossover is essentially the HB20 hatchback that has been given styling tweaks that include a restyled front bumper with a chrome strip on the grille as well as a restructured air dam and fog lamps.

The HB20X gets black plastic moulding all around in the lower section. The HB20X also gets roof rails for added practicality to carry weekend luggage. Hyundai’s latest crossover has been given 15-inch grey alloy wheels.

At the back, the rear bumper has also been redesigned with black mouldings to give it a more rugged look.

Inside, the Hyundai HB20X gets chrome detailing on the HVAC controls and door handles, sporty pedals, the blue stitching on the seats and steering wheel are exclusive to the display model.

The ride height of the car has also been raised by 70mm to give it a sportier crossover look.

Powering the Hyundai HB20X crossover is the company’s 1.6-litre 16-valve CVVT petrol engine that develops 129PS of power. The engine can be mated to a manual or automatic gearbox.

A sedan version of the Hyundai HB20 is also scheduled to make its debut in the first quarter of 2013.

All HB models from Hyundai will be produced at the company’s new plant in Piracicaba, Sao Paulo, Brazil and will be distributed through a dedicated dealer network.
