2,437 units of the SUV have a faulty switch which will be replaced by the Korean carmaker

2011 Hyundai Santa Fe

Hyundai has issued a voluntary recall for 2437 units of the previous generation Santa Fe for a possible malfunction of the stop-lamp switch. These could be cars manufactured between 26 June 2011 and 26 September 2013.

Hyundai will directly contact owners who have purchased a car between this period and replace the part free of cost at an authorized workshop. The replacement will be done free of cost.

The previous generation Santa Fe was launched in October 2010 and was replaced by the current Santa Fe at the Auto Expo in February 2014. The outgoing SUV fared poorly at the sales charts as it was pitted against the likes of the Toyota Fortuner in the segment. Dull styling was its major drawback but with the new generation car, it has been rectified with a flashy more upmarket look.

Under the hood of the Santa Fe is a 2.2-litre diesel carried over from the outgoing model. It produces max power of 197PS and a peak torque of 436Nm and is class leading in this aspect. The previous generation car was sold as a CBU but Hyundai seems to have more faith in the current model as they chosen the CKD route this time.
