Volkswagen Group said in a media statement that its vehicle deliveries to customers worldwide for the month of June increased 3.9 per cent from last year. For the six months ended June, the increase was 5.9 per cent, boosted by the Asia-Pacific region, particularly China, the Group's largest single market. However, the company stated that challenges on various world markets persist.

The German car brand has delivered a total of 10.9 lakh vehicles on the overall European market from January to June this year, of which approximately 10.5 lakh vehicles were handed over in Western Europe (excluding Germany). In the home market of Germany, approximately 6.1 lakh customers chose a new car from the Volkswagen Group. The German carmaker has sold approximately 4.2 lakh vehicles in the North America region from January to June this year, of which approximately 2.8 lakh vehicles were handed over in the United States.

Volkswagen Group has recorded very encouraging sales figures in the Asia-Pacific region, where 20 lakh lakh vehicles were sold to customers in the period to June. China was the single-most largest market in this region, contributing to the sale of 10.8 lakh vehicles.

Breaking up the figures brand wise, VW branded vehicles sold the highest, at 30.7 lakh units, followed by Audi at 8.69 lakh units, Skoda at 5.22 lakh units, Seat at two lakh units and Porsche at 87,800 units.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles delivered approximately 2.17 lakh units between January and June, 2014. All the numbers mentioned exclude Volkswagen MAN and Volkswagen Scania sales.
