Honda to launch new compact sedan at 2014 Beijing Auto Show

Honda has teased design sketches for an all-new concept car, which will make its debut at the upcoming 2014 Beijing Auto Show. The car in the picture seems to be a compact sedan, on the lines of the Honda FCX Clarity while keeping true to Honda’s new ‘H Design’ formula. The new car could be an all-new product or a future design mock up for one of their popular names like the Civic.

Honda will also bring the updated version of the Chinese Spirior sedan. The Honda Sprior is essentially China’s version of the Honda Accord Euro and the Acura TSX and features identical styling as the above. The new concept could most likely be the Honda badged version of the recent Acura TLX prototype. Although unconfirmed, this new car could also be the precursor to the long overdue Accord replacement, which too is expected later this year.

Honda currently has two joint ventures in the Chinese automotive market, one with popular car manufacturer Dongfeng (Dongfeng Honda Automobile Co Ltd) and the other with Guangqi (Dongfeng Honda Automobile Co Ltd). While the Accord/Spirior concept will be introduced in concurrence with the Dongfeng-Honda joint venture, the Guangqi-Honda JV will sell the compact sedan concept seen here.

Honda is also expected to showcase a new SUV, which has been designed mainly for the Chinese market. The new Honda Jazz/Fit is also be premiered for the first time at the 2014 Beijing Auto show and will be sold by the Guangqi-Honda JV.
