Ducati is planning to launch an all-new version of its multipurpose motorcycle – Multistrada at the 2014 EICMA motor show scheduled to start from November 6th in Milan, Italy. This report comes at a time when BMW announced that it plans to launch the 2015 BMW S1000XR at the upcoming INTERMOT show in Germany. The 2015 BMW S1000XR is a multipurpose motorcycle developed by the German two-wheeler manufacturer to take on the Ducati Multistrada and is based on the S1000RR superbike.
Although Ducati have been very secretive about the 2015 Multistrada but reports suggest that the production of the Multistrada has been shut to revamp the assembly line for the new model. Also dealers in the European market are providing heavy discounts on the Ducati Multistrada suggesting that they want to clear the stocks before the new bike arrives. The 2015 Ducati Multistrada will receive updates on both the mechanical and cosmetic front with more focus on the powerplant. Apart from the new Multistrada, Ducati will announce reveal the Ducati 1299 Panigale (story link) and the much awaited Scrambler at the 2014 EICMA show.
