Honda Motorcycles & Scooters India (HMSI) had another wonderful outing in the month of August with respect to sales. The Japanese two-wheeler giant registered an overall sales of 3,95,262 units in the month of August, 2015. In comparison to year-on-year sales growth the gain is a meagre two per cent but looking at the overall growth of the industry it is a decent figure given the volumes. Scooter sales continue to gain traction as Honda sold 2,46,750 units in August as opposed to 2,17,749 units it had managed in the same corresponding month last year. Worryingly for Honda, motorcycles have slid down as it shipped out only 1,26,452 units in comparison to 1,53,117 units in August, 2014. HMSI registered its highest ever exports as it shipped off 22,060 two-wheeler units from India. Honda was also the highest volume gainer between the time periods of April to August, 2015 with an average addition of 79,484 units as opposed to the industry average of 36,235 units.

Honda recently launched the CBR 650F which is its flagship two-wheeler offering to be assembled in India with a sticker price of Rs 7.30 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It also unveiled the Honda CB Hornet 160R which is expected to be launched in September and a premium 125cc bike based on the Honda CB Shine expected to hit showrooms during the festive season.
