Strong sales of the new Jazz in its first month has helped Honda sell 18,606 units in July 2015

The Mobilio may not have hit the bull’s eye for Honda but it certainly seems like the Jazz is on track to being one of the top choices in the premium hatchback segment. In the first month of its launch, 6,676 units of the Jazz were sold by Honda, amounting to more than a third of Honda’s total sales in India and also becoming Honda’s largest selling car in the month, toppling the City. The company posted total domestic sales of 18,606 units last month, a growth of 18 percent over the same period last year.

The City however continues to rule the roost in the C-segment clocking 5,180 units in July. The Amaze too seems to have got a spring in its stride after Honda introduced two new audio video navigation (AVN) equipped variants in the Amaze. With 4,589 units in July, the Amaze is holding strong against fresh competition in the compact sedan segment. Another test for the Amaze is coming up though with the launch of the Figo Aspire this month. The Aspire is a competent car and could worry the Amaze if priced well.

1,122 units of the Brio and 130 units of the CR-V round up the current portfolio for July. Honda’s big launches as of now are in the market with no major number churner coming any time soon. There are talks of the CR-V diesel and a new compact SUV from the Honda stables but there is no certain timeline as of now.
