The pre-booking of Honda BR-V compact SUV have been started across dealerships in India. A minimum deposit amount of Rs 21,000 is being accepted from customers looking forward to own the much awaited compact SUV. The BR-V is scheduled for its official launch on May 5.
The BR-V will be the first compact SUV offering by the Japanese manufacturer in India. The compact SUV is based on the same platform of the Brio, Amaze and Mobilio, but features different exterior and interior design. The car will be launched in both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol will be the 1.5-litre iVTEC while the diesel will be the 1.5-litre iDTEC engine that currently powers the Honda City. The engines will come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Expect Honda to introduce the CVT automatic gearbox variant post launch of the compact SUV.
Inside, the BR-V will feature the same dashboard design as the recently launched Amaze facelift. The dash has aluminum-esque garnish strips that surround the AC vents and a glossy black centre console. The BR-V is a seven-seater with decent space even for the third-row, along with fair luggage space in the boot. Access to the third-row can be achieved by folding the second row split seats.

Feature-wise, the BR-V will come equipped with ABS, EBD, dual front airbags, touchscreen infotainment system, steering mounted controls, automatic climate control, and projector headlamps. In its segment, the BR-V is the only compact SUV to offer a seven-seater configuration.
The Honda BR-V is expected to carry a sticker price starting from Rs 8 lakh for the petrol base variant going up to Rs 12 Lakh for the top-end diesel model. In India, the Honda BR-V will lock horns against the Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano, Mahindra Scorpio, Tata Safari and the extremely popular Hyundai Creta.
