Helmet giant Arai announced that it will be offering a new tribute helmet in memory of the late Joey Dunlop, who is regarded as the best rider to ever have raced at the fabled Isle of Man TT. The tribute helmet will be based on the Arai RX7-GP and the Japanese lid manufacturer claims it will be the most authentic replica helmet ever made of the iconic Irish racer. The Joey Dunlop replica helmet will feature the livery used by the legendary racer in the 1985 race of the Isle of Man. The “Joey 85” Arai helmet will be finished in the characteristic yellow and black shade and will carry DownTown Radio sponsor decals with the station’s logo on the side.

Speaking about the replica helmet, Linda Dunlop commented, “I am happy that the new Arai has come about, it looks great and I know that Joey’s fans from around the world have been looking for another replica to be done by Arai. It keeps Joey’s memory alive. I am also happy that Northern Ireland Company Crossan’s TheVisorShop.com are taking care of the sales and mail order of the new helmet.”

To maintain exclusivity, the Limited Edition RX7-GP Joey Dunlop 1985 Replica Helmet will be limited to just 300 units that will be only available online at “The Visorshop” each priced at Rs 71,500. Also the helmets will be hand numbered and will be sold with a certificate of authenticity personally signed by Joey’s spouse Linda Dunlop. Joey still remains the most successful rider at the mountain race with a record 26 TT wins to his name and has been aptly conferred by his fans as the “king of the mountain”. The Irish rider was killed in the year 2000 while leading a street race in Estonia after he crashed into a tree.
