The "Never say die"amby has just got a new lease of life even as you thought it was on the verge of extinction. For us high or low inflation is never an issue, ours is a steady market and contrary to perception we are growing now," Amar Singh Rathore, national sales manager, Ambassador said."The beauty of the car that we make is it just does not have any maintenance issues. The government which is our biggest buyer had shown interest in other manufacturers but now they are making a comeback to us." He also said that the diesel versions were 30% cheaper to maintain while the petrol ones did not require any maintenance.

HM has just got orders from the J&K police department for 400 cars while the Delhi government has ordered 50 vehicles They were also shortlisted for BSNL purchases. The Ambassadors biggest buyer is the government with around 40% of the sales coming from them. Out of the1000 cars being sold in a month, 250 are fitted with petrol engines, 100 with CNG the rest being diesel. HM hopes to up the sales by 50% soon.

The Ambassador is also the preferred choice of taxi operators in the south since according to HM the amby's can regularly do 300 kms on rugged roads without any maintenance. HM has also launched a scheme in TN wherein you drive in any Amby in any condition, with RTO endorsement for scrapping it, Rs 35,000 is waived off on the new Amby. This scheme is expected to boost sales in TN from the present 100 cars to over 250cars.
