Hero to shift R&D Facility to Jaipur

In September 2013, Hero MotoCorp laid the foundation stone of a new Hero Centre of Global Innovation and Research & Design (R&D)’ in Kukas near Jaipur, Rajasthan. Today, at the launch of the Maestro Edge, Hero announced that the R&D centres at Gurgaon and Daruhera too will be shifted to Jaipur. To setup the R&D Facility Hero has invested a total of around Rs 450 crore. Hero Centre of Global Innovation and R&D’ will play a crucial role in developing the range of next-generation Hero two-wheelers for its customers in India and around the world.

Hero MotoCorp, Chairman & MD Pawan Munjal said, "With the unveiling of the Duet and Maestro Edge today, Hero has entered into the next phase if its exciting journey. These new products are a testimony to our ongoing efforts to create a world class R&D ecosystem that will create products from India for the world." 

Hero MotoCorp currently manufacturers all its motorcycles in four manufacturing facilities, in Gurgaon, Daruhera, Haridwar and Neemrana. Meanwhile, construction of its fifth manufacturing facility in Halol, Gujarat also got underway last year. Sales of some of the Hero MotoCorp offerings have been at an all time high with the bike maker selling more than 1.80 lakh units of the Splendor just in the month of August 2015. To ensure that the export market is as fruitful, Hero plans to spread its manufacturing base to more than 20 locations across continents by 2020. 

Aside from its expansion plans, Hero also intends to widen its product portfolio with the launch of a new 250cc offering built in association with Eric Buell Racing. Hero MotoCorp acquired Eric Buell Racing bu the latter filed for bankruptcy earlier this year in April. Hero MotoCorp has now acquired all their assets.
