Hero MotoCorp has recorded its highest ever monthly sales in January 2013 after having sold a staggering 5,57,979 units in the country. The world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer achieved this feat with robust volumes brought in by the long standing Splendor and Passion commuter motorcycles as well as the new Ignitor, Passion X-Pro and Maestro.

The two-wheeler giant registered a growth of 7.21 per cent in sales for January 2013 on a Year-on-Year basis for the corresponding period in 2012 when it sold 5,20,272 units.

Anil Dua, Senior Vice-President (Marketing & Sales), Hero MotoCorp, said, “With this record performance, we have made a confident beginning to the new year. Our new motorcycle launches like Ignitor and Passion X-Pro are receiving excellent customer response, while growth in our scooters, Pleasure & Maestro, is outpacing the industry growth. The overall two-wheeler industry is again showing good volumes, and we are hopeful of keeping up the momentum.”

In January 2013, Hero MotoCorp also started construction of its fourth manufacturing plant and the new Global Parts Centre (GPC) at Neemrana in Rajasthan. The company will invest a total of Rs 550 crore in setting up these facilities. Both the facilities are expected to be operational towards the end of the Financial Year (FY) 2013-14.
