Honda has been officially confirmed as the engine supplier for the Moto2 class for another four years

Moto2 chassis and engine

Honda Motor Corporation will be supplying Spanish company ExternPro, which manages the official Moto2 engines, until the end of the 2018 season. This means that Moto2 will remain a single engine class at least until 2018.

Honda has supplied a 600cc four-cylinder motor based on the CBR600 since the inaugural Moto2 world championship in 2010 when the two-stroke 250GP class was replaced.

“The Honda engine has not only proved an exciting addition to the paddock, but has also been a technically very reliable asset, which is extremely important in motorsports,” said Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO, Dorna Sports.

From 2013, ExternPro have been preparing the engines for competition, ensuring reliability and taking care of enigne maintenance. The three-year extension agreement will see ExternPro-prepared Honda engines featured in Grand Prix competition until at least the end of 2018.
