Speculations of Hero and Honda parting their ways was already in the air and the news of Hero Honda Motors Ltd. changing its name to Hero MotoCorp Ltd. already known. Today, the two-wheeler manufacturer received the necessary approval from the Registrar of Companies (RoC) for the name change.
On the occasion, Dr Brijmohan Lall, Chairman, Hero MotoCorp Ltd, said “Today is a historic day. It is not just a change of name; it marks the ushering in of a new era that will unlock the immense potential of this company to build its own capabilities to grow beyond boundaries and set new benchmarks. As we set out on this exciting new journey, we look forward to the continued support of all our stakeholders including dealer friends, suppliers, employees and all our associates.”
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Hero MotoCorp Ltd, Pawan Munjal, added, “The change in name is the first big step towards further strengthening the company’s leadership in the two-wheeler industry. It marks the beginning of a new era of innovations – be it in the field of technology and product development or customer satisfaction and expanding our footprint across global markets. While I am announcing a new name for the company today, I assure you there is much more to follow. Do wait for August 9, 2011 for the unveiling of the brand new identity of Hero MotoCorp Ltd and the excitement that will unfold in the near future.”
The official brand identity which would include brand architecture, brand name and brand logo would be shown on the 9th of August in London. Wolf Olins from the Omnicon Group has been roped in for this task.
