Thirteen Harley-Davidson riders from India will participate in the 74th edition of the rally that will be held from August 4-10 at South Dakota, US. This is the first time Harley-Davidson riders from India will be participating at the iconic rally which is expected to see well over 60,000 riders from across the world.

The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is one of the largest motorcycle rallies in the world and is an annual event held in Sturgis, South Dakota in August every year.

It began in 1938 and started off as a gathering for motorcycle stunts and races, but over the years has evolved into being a meeting for motorcycle enthusiasts from across the world. The rally hosts events ranging from live music concerts, barbeque parties, laser shows and motorcycle rides in and around Sturgis.

For many attendees, the rally is a family vacation of sorts, travelling across the United States on RVs and campers with their families, with the bikes towed on trailers. They ride their motorcycles just the last few kilometres into Sturgis. Shipping companies transport thousands of motorcycles to Sturgis for attendees who choose to fly in to the rally. According to some estimates, less than half the attendees actually ride their motorcycles to Sturgis.
