Making its presence felt on the digital racing circuit German automobile major, Volkswagen has unveiled its latest iteration of the GTI virtual sports car. Christened, the Volkswagen GTI Supersport Vision Gran Turismo, it comes powered by a VR6 TSI motor producing 503PS of peak power and 665Nm of torque, and comes mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox (DSG).
Power is transferred to the virtual asphalt via 4MOTION all-wheel drive, running on trendy 20-inch GTI alloy wheels.
The digital supersport seems to have been inspired by the Golf GTI road, but with dollops of racing design tweaks and attitude. The sportier front design gets vertical light modules, a large air dam with the honeycomb effect and a sleek grille. You can’t miss the massive roof spoiler and flamboyant diffuser which will further aid aerodynamics. This digital creation is offered in a range of body colours including Reflex Silver, Gran Turismo Red, Lapiz Blue and Oryx White.
The additional body kit and side skirts give the digital sports car a wider stance, while the carbon fibre parts are said to give it a power-to-weight ratio of only 2.5kg per horsepower. In virtual space, the GTI sports car can sprint from 0-100kmph in just 3.6 seconds, and goes on till its top-speed of 297kph.
The new Volkswagen GTI Supersport Vision Gran Turismo will be available for download on the popular Gran Turismo 6 racing game on Sony PlayStation 3, along with the roadster virtual sports car Volkswagen had introduced last year.
