Gold coloured Mercedes-Benz cars are providing shuttle service for guests and stars at Cannes film fest

Mercedes-Benz is operating a fleet of gold wrapped cars at the Cannes film festival, celebrating the 65th anniversary of the Golden Palm award. The fleet are catering to stars and guests at the Cannes festival, ferrying them between different venues of the festival.

Also being showcased is a golden Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG 45th Anniversary edition at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc as part of the Cinema Against AIDS Gala, an annual fund raising event organised by the American Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR) that Mercedes-Benz is co-sponsoring this year.

AMG, the high-performance division of Mercedes-Benz, is also pulling out all the stops to raise its brand image at Cannes this year. AMG cars ferried guests to events like the Le Club by Albane at the JW Marriott Hotel and the IWC Film-makers Dinner at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc. A Mercedes-Benz SL 63 AMG was showcased at the InterContinental Carlton Cannes, on a special stage designed as a set. AMG is also offering test drives of the various models on offers.

Last year its sister company Maybach showcased a one-off 62S made in collaboration with the Swiss jeweller and watch maker de Grisogono. The car featured black diamonds on the leather upholstery of its rear armrest, dashboard counters rimmed with white diamonds, as well as de Grisogono’s scrolled motif signature on the car’s veneer trim.
