The next generation Tuscon is a scaled down Santa Fe with power ranging from 115PS to 186PS

New Hyundai Tuscon

Hyundai has showcased the next generation Tuscon. The SUV is all new from the grounds up and looks a lot like its elder brother, the Santa Fe. Built on a new chassis, Hyundai says that the new Tuscon focuses on ride comfort and driving dynamics.

The focus as we see it though is its design and Hyundai we believe has done a splendid job draping this SUV. The fine balance between attractive and butch has been executed perfectly with the Tuscon. The angular headlamps, trapezoidal chrome laden grille, high set bumper and chunky cladding around all look the part. Muscular wheel arches and the large sloping c-pillar are smartly designed.

Powering the Tuscon are a range of engines. The petrol units are a naturally aspirated 132PS 1.6-litre engine and a turbocharged unit with an output of 175PS. Three diesel engine choices are available. The base engine is a 115PS 1.7-litre engine. You also get a 2.0-litre engine with two outputs – 136PS and 186PS. Hyundai has also introduced a new 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine developing 175PS and 265Nm of torque. Choice of transmissions is a six-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox.

On the inside, Hyundai Claims to have improved material quality, and is offering a new contrast interior colour. Heated and ventilated seats and a better infotainment system are features the new Tuscon can boast about. On the safety front, the Tuscon gets Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Keeping Assist and Blind Spot Detection to name a few.
