McLaren seems to have made up their minds to set the Geneva podium on fire. The launch of their supercar duo- McLaren 650S Coupe and Spider has set eyes rolling at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. The British car manufacturer has stated that both the versions of the car are inspired by the McLaren P1, which was launched at the Paris Motor Show in 2012.

McLaren 650S will be the brands fastest production car, which will be produced alongside the 12C that is in production. The McLaren P1 was a limited production plug-in hybrid supercar which had buyers for all of its 375 units. The 650S Spider has a two-piece retractable roof which opens and closes in 17 seconds and can be operated at speeds upto 30kmph.

The 650S borrows its design cues from the McLaren P1. The front bumper gives the McLaren 650S Coupe a dramatic appearance, and sits below the new LED headlamps, which are similar to the McLaren P1. The front splitter is more integrated which in turn contributes to increase in the levels of downforce. This helps in adding up the agility, and the handling-balance of the car. The door blades behind the front wheels, direct air from the trailing edges of the front splitter which benefits front-end grip and vehicle balance. The car gets five-spoke light-weight alloy wheels fitted with Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres, which offer strong performance in normal road conditions and on track.

The car comes equipped with Alcantra upholstery, carbon fibre trim, and an IRIS satellite navigation system with Bluetooth telephony, digital radio, wireless tethering, audio streaming and voice control which comes as standard. The 650S gets an electric steering column, a rearview camera and carbon fiber racing seats.

A 3.8-litre, V8 twin-turbocharged engine works under the hood of the McLaren 650S. It produces a maximum power of 650PS and a peak torque of 678Nm which is mated to a 7-speed SSG gearbox. The British car manufacturer claims that the car sprints between 0-100kmph in 3.0 seconds, and can accelerate the 0-200kmph mark within 8.4 seconds with a top speed of 333kmph.

Both the 650S Coupe and the Spider are expected to go on sale before the end of the year 2014. The McLaren 650S Coupe is priced at Rs 2,01,31,885 while the Spider comes with a price tag of Rs 2,21,94,050.
