At the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, Mini took the wraps off the largest offering in their fleet – the Clubman

Mini Clubman

It’s a Mini, and it’s large! Kind of paradoxical isn’t it? But that is what best describes the recently unveiled Mini Clubman. The British car maker showcased the Clubman concept last year at the Geneva Motor Show, and a few months back released pictures of the car. This time round though, it has made its official debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.

At a length of 4,253mm and a width of 1,800mm, the Clubman takes the title of the largest car from the Countryman. Needless to say the increase in size has resulted in an increase in weight, 155kg in this case. But that aside, the Mini Clubman is all about practicality. There is a fair bit of room at the back as opposed to the other Mini offerings all thanks to extra four inches added between the axles. In fact, even with a tall driver, space at the back is quite impressive. And then there is the boot. The twin doors out back open at the kick of a foot (optional) to a boot capacity of 360 litres which can be increased up to over 1250 litres with the rear bench folded flat.

The 4-pot gasoline Mini Cooper S Clubman will makes power of 192 horses while the 1.5-litre diesel unit makes 135PS. The Mini Clubman will be launched 31st October in UK. Currently Mini only has the Cooper 3-door, 5-door, Cooper Convertible and the Countryman on sale in India and it seems unlikely that the Clubman will make its way to here in the near future. But with the kind of practicality and space that offers in the premium compact segment might along with the badge might just appeal to a lot of Indian buyers.
