Honda cars India has announced a recalls of 1085 units of the Accord and 252 units of the CR-V manufactured in the year 2003 and one CR-V built in 2002 for preventive replacement of the passenger side airbag inflator. This announcement is part of the global recall Honda had announced in June 2014.
Honda will carry out the replacement free of cost at Honda workshops across India in a phased manner and the company will contact customers directly who own cars in this specific set. One can also check whether their car is part of the recall batch by submitting their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the recalls microsite created on the Honda website.
In the defected cars, due to a problem during the propellant forming process, the casing of the inflator may get damaged when the airbag. Honda India says that so far no incident has been reported owing to this possible defect.
