Ford is making every possible move to bring "darkness" over Maruti’s Vitara Brezza with its EcoSport. First, it was the heavy price cut that was brought about around the launch of the Brezza. And now Ford India has quite literally brought in the darkness by introducing the sexy EcoSport Black Edition. The Black Edition’s base variant is priced at Rs 8.54 lakh for the 1.0-litre EcoBoost Trend+, while the top of the line 1.5-litre TDCi Diesel is priced at Rs 9.93 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom Delhi).
As you might have guessed from the name and the image above, the EcoBoost Black edition employs black trims at places, giving it a more brutish look. For starters, the chrome grille that you and I are accustomed to seeing has been blacked out. The ORVMs too gets black finish along with the alloys wheels, fog lamp surrounds, skid plates and the chunky roof rails. A little recap here: a similar car was showcased at the Indian Auto Expo 2016.
The manufacturers have made sure that the Black Edition is available across all its engine options. To wit, this sporty edition is available with the 1.0-litre EcoBoost producing 125PS of power, 1.5-litre TiVCT petrol with 112PS, and 1.5-litre TDCi diesel churning 100PS.The 1.0-litre EcoBoost comes mated to a 5-speed manual only, while the 1.5-litre TiVCT and the 1.5-litre TDCi diesel are available with an optional 6-speed DCT automatic along with the manual transmission.
Other than these, the EcoSport Black Edition will be packed with the features seen on the standard car. These include Ford’s SYNC with AppLink, automatic climate control, and 6-airbags in the top end trim.
The variants are priced as follows:
Variants | Trend+ | Titanium | Titanium+ |
1.5-litre TiVCT Petrol -- | NA | Rs 8,74,800 | NA |
1.5-litre TiVCT Petrol (AT) -- | NA | Rs 9,79,800 | NA |
