Ford Figo to be launched on September 23

After marking an entry in the compact sedan segment a few months back, Ford is now all set to bring in a new Figo hatchback later this month. Up front the Figo hatch will look similar to its compact sedan sibling. It sports the large four-slat chrome grille up front which is flanked by those large sweptback headlamps. In fact, the bumper too is the same as the one on the Figo Aspire. The petal shaped taillights look neat and the wave in the boot lid is much like the sedan. 

Under the hood, the Figo hatchback will be launched in petrol as well diesel engine options. In fact, it will be the same unit as the compact sedan. The naturally aspirated 1.2-litre petrol unit will make 70PS of peak power and 102Nm of peak torque. The diesel on the other hand will be a 1.5-litre unit that is expected to churn 90PS and 204Nm. Both these engines will come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. 

Keeping in mind the Figo Aspire, expect the Figo hatchback to come heavily loaded with features and priced aggressively. We expect it to be priced starting around Rs 4 lakh. In the Indian market the Figo will go against the likes of the Hyundai Grand i10, Maruti Suzuki Swift and the Tata Bolt.
