Ford celebrates 50,000 Figos off the line

When Ford launched the Figo earlier this year, no one could have predicted it would be such a bit hit. In fact, the company had created absolutely no hype before the car was released into the market. And with no real expectations by buyers, they immediately took a shine to the smartly designed, no-nonsense Figo. And now, with the 50,000th Figo rolling off the production line, Ford seems set to celebrate the occasion with great pomp and circumstance. What the company has in mind is a road trip with a customized Figo, covering almost the entire length of India from Chandigarh to the company’s home base in Chennai.

Michael Boneham, President and Managing Director of Ford India commented "Besides celebrating the 50,000 milestone, the objective of the pan-India drive and associated events is to thank Figo customers nationwide for their support in making Figo the most popular car in its segment". Christened 'Discover Smart', the 25-day road trip, which was flagged off in Chandigarh on the 5th of October will cover a total distance of 2500km and pass through major cities such as Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Gwalior, Indore, Nagpur, Hyderabad, and Bangalore and many smaller cities and towns before ending in Chennai on October 30th. Ford has also invited four young couples to be a part of the road trip and their adventures will be promoted through an integrated campaign involving digital, marketing and dealer activities.

The customized Figo used for the trip has been designed by Harun Robert, a popular children's television host renowned for his artistic, music and dance skills. Speaking about the design, Robert said, "I concentrated on complementing the Figo's good looks and vibrant colours with my distinct style of illustration, using a palette and design elements that convey celebration and unity with an Indian flavour."
