Ducati India on Sunday witnessed the first official ride of the Desmo Owners Club of Mumbai. The ride started from the Ducati dealership in Bandra and rode through the city to Nariman Point, concluding at the Hard Rock Café at Lower Parel in Mumbai.
Speaking on the first official D.O.C ride, Ravi Avalur, Managing Director, Ducati India said: “The Desmo Owners Club is intended for Ducati owners but is open also to owners of other brands who are passionate about Ducati. We’re happy to see this community growing and D.O.C.s beginning to expand across India.”
The name 'Desmo' of the Desmo Owners Club has been derived from the Ducati engine that features the Desmodromic valve control technology. The D.O.C is claimed by the manufacturer to be one of the largest official communities across the globe. There are over 200 official clubs and 23,000 registered members under the D.O.C community. In India, the Mumbai D.O.C is the first in the country and the 25th in Asia. The D.O.C. community is open to non-Ducati owners as well who are passionate about the iconic Italian brand.
Commenting on the occasion, Dr. Ashutosh Palep, President of the Mumbai D.O.C. said: “We are very excited to start the very first Indian Desmo Owners Club in Mumbai. The club is dedicated to bringing together motorcyclists who share a passion for Ducati and riding and focuses heavily on safety so that we promote an enjoyable lifestyle. I look forward to riding with the growing community of Ducatisti in and around Mumbai!”
During these events, the members get an opportunity to interact with each other, share their experiences, ride to new places and visit different events in India and abroad. Currently, eight D.O.C. Mumbai members are travelling to the 9th edition of World Ducati Week at the Misano World Circuit in Italy. Over there, they will join other D.O.C. members Ducatisti from around the world to celebrate Ducati’s 90th anniversary. With, the success of the Mumbai D.O.C event, Ducati India will soon have rides in Pune, Delhi and Bangalore.
