Fiat and Tata Motors have gone their separate ways on the retail end of things with Fiat now busy expanding its network of exclusive dealers across the country. But, the two companies continue to remain connected thanks to a car and engine manufacturing plant in Ranjangaon, near Pune.

The plant is owned and run by an entity called Fiat India Automobiles Limited (FIAL). FIAL is, in fact, a 50-50 industrial joint venture between Fiat Group Automobiles S. p. A., (Fiat) and Tata Motors Limited which was incorporated way back in1997. This plant recently reached a milestone having rolled out its 300,000th car.

The plant also produces and supplies petrol and diesel engines to companies like Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors and had reached the landmark of producing the 500,000th engine last year. According to spokespeople of both partners, the Ranjangaon facility will continue to produce world class products that demonstrate engineering ingenuity keeping the current market needs in mind. The facility will also be utilised for manufacturing of some of the new products that will be launched in future by both the partners.
