WIAA organises car rally to celebrate International Women's day

The Women's Rally to the Valley was organised by WIAA to celebrate the International Women's day which saw 1,000 female participants driving from Mumbai to Aamby Valley

WIAA (Western India Automobile Association) celebrated International Women’s day in a special manner by hosting a car rally exclusively for the fairer sex. The event was the Women’s Rally to the Valley - which was a car rally from Mumbai to Aamby Valley in Lonavla. The Women’s Rally to the Valley was organised by JK TYRE & Industries Limited alongwith Western India Automobile Association in association with Aamby Valley City. The women’s exclusive car rally saw an impressive turnout of 250 cars with around 1,000 participants from across the city. 

Several famous personalities from Mumbai were present in the car rally that included Tanvi Azmi, Neerja Birla, Mugdha Godse, Gurmeet Chowdhry, veteran rallyist Renuka Kripalani, Deepa Damodaran and yesteryears rallyists  Navaz Bhathena Sandhu along with senior Katy Bhathena. The rally commenced from Hotel Sahara Star (Domestic Airport) at 8am in the morning and was flagged off by Jean Todt, President FIA in the presence of Dr. Vijay Mallya, Chairman, FMSCI, the controlling body of Motor Sports in India and Industrialist Gautam Singhania.

On behalf of WIAA, Executive Chairman Nitin Dossa said, “Since WIAA’s prime focus is creating awareness in society about road safety, we have now taken initiative to create awareness about women’s safety on roads, in public transport and in public places. With the growing attacks on women in recent times, it is important to create awareness amongst the citizens of Mumbai to build a protective society for women.”
