2014 have been a year of success for Mercedes-Benz in terms of sales. The latest generation of Mercedes-Benz S-Class has recorded one lakh sales in this year alone. The record breaking sales indicate that the sedan is extremely popular in its segment.
This is for the first time Mercedes-Benz has sold as many S-Class models in the first year of full availability, making it the most successful market launch of an S-Class ever. The luxury carmaker also had the fastest market launch ever of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, having arrived in less than twelve weeks in all its three core markets: Germany (end of July 2013), China (end of September 2013) and the United States (mid-October 2013).
Since the beginning of the year, Mercedes-Benz has sold 75,391 S-Class models, twice as many as in the same period of the previous year (+105.8 per cent). Thus, more S-Class vehicles have been delivered to customers within the nine months of 2014 as against the years - 2012 or 2013. In September 2014 alone, 9,501 units of the luxury sedan were sold, which indicates a 139.3 per cent surge as compared to September 2013.
The Mercedes-Benz S-Class is currently available in short and long-wheelbase variants as well as the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe. Further down the road, the Mercedes-Benz Maybach will be offered as well as a Mercedes-Benz Maybach Pullman with a 2+2+2 seating layout. Finally, a Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet will also be offered.
