Maruti Suzuki Manesar facility marks 25 lakh production landmark

Indian auto giant, Maruti Suzuki, has announced that its manufacturing unit in Manesar, Haryana has churned out more than 25 lakh units of vehicles. This figure was achieved in a span of seven years and eight months, and the milestone marking car was a Swift Zxi rolling out of the production line in Glistening Grey shade.

Rajiv Gandhi, Executive Director, Maruti Suzuki India, said in a statement, “The Manesar facility achieved the 25 lakh production milestone in 7 years and 8 months. The plant manufactures some of the top selling models such as Maruti Swift, Maruti DZire and Maruti Celerio. This milestone would be the fastest for any car manufacturing plant in the country.”

He also stated that the Manesar plant had implemented several ideas from the employees with regards to productivity, cost, quality and safety.

Spread over 600 acres, the Manesar facility houses three units - Manesar A, B and C - with total annual capacity of 8,00,000 vehicles. In addition, the Manesar campus also has the diesel engine plant and a suppliers park.

Earlier this year, Maruti commissioned a 1mw (megawatt) mono-crystalline photovoltaic solar power setup inside the Manesar facility. It helps the facility offset CO2 emissions to the tune of over 1,200 tonnes annually. The Gurgaon and Manesar facilities have together rolled out over 1.4 crore vehicles.
