5,834 units of the old-gen Corolla Altis diesel have been recalled over a faulty component that lets engine oil into the air intakes

Toyota Corolla Altis recalled

Toyota has issued a recall of 5,834 units of the Corolla Altis diesel manufactured between 15 June 2011 and 23 May, 2011. It is part of a global recall. A faulty component that lets engine oil run into the air intakes in the diesel variants requires to be fixed. In 2013, Toyota had recalled 1,000 units of the Altis diesel to fix a potential problem with the driveshaft as well.

Toyota will contact affected owners directly and the repairs will be conducted at authorized dealerships free of cost. Although announcement of recalls aren’t mandatory in India, a voluntary recall sure keeps trust in the brand. The point to note in all recalls issued in the recent past is the frequency with which they happen. It isn’t just Toyota but every brand that sells cars in India.

A couple of weeks ago, Toyota also issued recalls of 119 units of the Camry manufactured between March and July 2011. There was a possible defect in the front suspension of these cars manufactured in Japan. It was part of a global recall affecting 1.7 lakh units of the Camry.

Recommended Variant : Corolla Altis 1.8 G
