Nissan has just added a second all-electric vehicle to its fleet. The NV200 or the Evalia as we know it gets its electric sibling that uses the Nissan Leaf electric drivetrain. Called the e-NV200, the MPV has a European driving cycle range of 170 km.

The NV200 is mainly used as a commercial vehicle, either as a taxi or a cargo mover across the globe and the same will be Nissan’s target with the e-NV200. Nissan also plans to tap into the eco-friendly private car user with the electric version. The company says that it can carry the same payload as its gas guzzling twin.

A 16 amp domestic point can give a full charge to the e-NV200 in 8 hours while a 32 amp will reduce it in half. A dedicated quick charger like over thousand of the CHAdeMO (Charge for moving) stations installed in Europe can get the battery to 80 percent charge in just 30 minutes.

Production of the e-NV200 has already begun at Nissan’s light commercial vehicle facility in Barcelona, Spain. Prior to its production run, pre-production prototypes were used to fine-tune the e-NV200 by handing them over to demanding clients like FedEx, Coca-Cola, DHL, IKEA, British Gas, EDF and the Japan Post Office.

The charging point is located under the front logo like in the Leaf, and the headlamps get a blue tint and LED to differentiate it from the NV200. The interior gets a new instrument cluster with a digital readout and all the information about the e-NV200 is relayed through the TFT screen. A conventional automatic style gear lever is mounted on the dashboard and the e-NV200 comes with start stop technology and steering mounted controls.
