Datsun redi-GO Official Price Launch on June 7

Datsun had globally unveiled the redi-GO in April that is aimed at the entry-level passenger car market in India. Now, the company has declared that the official price of the much-awaited redi-GO will be announced on June 7, 2016. Datsun has already mentioned that the car’s price will range from Rs 2.5 lakh for the base variant to up to Rs 3.5 lakh for the top spec variant.

Based on the CMF-A platform, the redi-GO shares its underpinnings with the Renault Kwid that has been performing well in the market. The redi-GO has a tall boy design that equates to more headroom space for the passenger. The production model is very similar to the concept as it features the sloping bonnet with the signature hexagonal grille. The headlight complements the overall design of the car well. It also features Daytime Running Lights (DRL), but that apparently will be available only for the top end model.

Powering the new offering from Datsun is the same 800cc three-pot mill that does duty in the Kwid. The engine is capable of producing 54PS of power and 72Nm of peak torque. The motor will come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission while an AMT variant might be introduced later. The company claims the redi-GO will return a mileage of over 25kmpl.

The Datsun redi-GO has already reached dealerships and will be available in five colour options. Pre-bookings of the entry-level hatchback are already underway. When launched the Datsun redi-GO will lock horns with its cousin - the Kwid, as well as the Maruti Suzuki Alto and the Hyundai Eon in its segment.
