The new Maruti Suzuki Swift was one of the most awaited cars in India. Even before its launch, the bookings were open and there is already a waiting period of three-four months for the diesel variant and two-three months for the petrol.
"I have heard so many reviews from my friends and relatives that I could not wait for the new Swift launch. It looks much more powerful and efficient than the K-series. I have already booked the diesel variant and I am just waiting for the delivery," said Sameer Takalkar of Mumbai.
The car is to be launched on August 17, 2011. It will sport a more powerful and efficient 1.2 VVT engine in the petrol and a 1.3 DDiS in the diesel, delivering 87PS and 114Nm of torque and 75PS and 190Nm of torque respectively.
"The car will definitely once again be the best-seller. Maruti knows the trick to capture the Indian masses; give them mileage and performance and the market is yours. I doubt the additional price will hamper the sales even a bit. It's a tried and tested car and people will still go for it," believes Viru of Bangalore.
Something similar was voiced by Mangat Karan Singh of Delhi. "The refined engines will definitely give the new Swift an edge over others as before. Even with the dissatisfactory rear space, people loved the old Swift. And with this new one, there is no doubting the fact, which is so visible with the already waiting period on the car," said Singh.
The other changes that make the new Swift more desirable are the better defined headlights, stylish vertical tail lamps, ORVM-turn indicators, rear sporty antenna, 15-inch signature alloys, new dynamic grille, unique vertical headlamp, strong fender flare and better mileage. According to ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India), the new Swift petrol will deliver 18.6kmpl and the diesel 22.9kmpl.
"I think amongst the small cars, Swift is the best. It gives the best mileage amongst all the other cars that I have. I love it so that I recommend the car to almost everyone and definitely look forward to buy the new one too," said a happy Rajiv Singhvi of Delhi.
It seems one can't have enough of the Swift, be it the old or the new one and with the added attitude, style sportiness and performance, the new Swift even with a Rs 20,000-30,000 premium, is definitely a more desirable package.
